The Basic Pay Scale (BPS) system is the official salary structure of the Government of Pakistan for all civil servants. It ranges from BPS-1 (lowest — support staff) to BPS-22 (highest — Federal Secretary, Chairman). BPS determines basic salary, house rent allowance, medical allowance, conveyance, and all other benefits. Every government job advertisement in Pakistan specifies the BPS grade.
