Pakistan Army follows a rank-based pay structure distinct from civilian BPS. Officers are commissioned from PMA Kakul as 2nd Lieutenants. Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) — Naib Subedar, Subedar, Subedar Major — are promoted from Other Ranks (ORs).
